Help with scanning

Prop up your phone or tablet, open Scan, and tap Let’s listen! Allow camera access when asked.
Show one card to the front camera. Keep its whole QR code visible in good light.
Move it a little closer or further away if needed. To hear the same card again, put it down for 2 seconds.

Camera images stay on your device. Nothing is recorded or uploaded. Leaving Scan stops the camera.

Start with two or three birds. Let your child choose a picture, hear the bird’s name and call, and copy the sound together.

Explore: let them replay their favourites.
Play: try the listening game or lay out the printed cards and ask them to find the bird they hear.
Notice: do they ask to play again another day?

There is no timer and no score to worry about. The calls are real field recordings, so you may hear other birds in the background. Birds have more than one call; these are examples.

For this first test

Notice which birds she returns to, whether scanning needs help, and whether she wants another turn. A few happy minutes is enough.

No accounts, ads or microphone. Scan uses your camera only after you tap Let’s listen! and give permission. Camera images stay on your device and are never recorded or uploaded. Leaving Scan stops the camera. Names use your device’s English voice where available.
